I haev uploaded a new installer for the KRYN course this is the final version of KRYN and the basis for the next set of courses. I am currently working on an undate for the VARO Reno Racer to add all the custom aircraft and get us ready for the 2003 racing season.
The server is online and going to be most of the day as much as much as I can anyway. If you check the status page and it doesn't show up that means I have the server down. We will be holding a practice session tonight at 10pm Eastern Time. We will be running laps in the biplanes and the jet primarily.
Hope to see everyone there

I said it was coming look at the new Racing Classes page to see all the classes VARO will be running at some point this season
I am done with my course work for the semester so that means more time for VARO here is a brief timeline of what I plan to work on in the next few months
1. Finish Phase 1 of VARO Race Management Program
2. Create Biplane/F1 course at KRYN
3. Create February Course
4. Release selected Biplane and Jet aircraft
5. Revise Race Format.
I am thinking of Revising the Race Format a little. Instead of having 1 race a month I am thinking that Qualifying should be thrown out and we should have heat races the day of the race. To decide the Gold,Silver, and Bronze positions. Heat positions would be random and would be assigned prior to racing. We would then have a race every two weeks. I thnk that we could race Unlimiteds and Jet the second week of the month and then Biplane and F-1 at the end of the month. I have BIplanes and a L-39 selected we need to make skins for them and they will be ready.
Final Note.
I am now involved in something that I think is going to be cool.
Check out the link below for more information a different way to FS

With the feedback of a couple pilots I have worked some improvements into the KRYN Racecourse.
Release Notes 1.05
---Added more pylons in between corners to help with visibility
---Fixed Elevation of some pylons to put them on the ground
---You can now turn the guide off by changeing your scenery complexity. To have them on use the "normal" setting. To leave the off use the "sparse" or "very sparse"
---Added Yellow Guide the goes out to Scatter Pylon. The scatter pylon is only used to line up for an airstart. Once you have started you can simply ignore this guide
Get the Scenery on the downloads page
Hope to see everyone at Pylon School

Great news about the practice that what I like to see!
Aircraft Draft, This weekend VARO will be holding its a draft for pilots to select there aircraft for the 2003 VARO season. This is how this works. On Friday I will start accepting selections for Aircraft. The order will be identical to the roster order. What you need to do is send me an e-mail that contains the following.
1.VARO Callsign
2.Race Number
3.Primary Selelction
4.Second Selection
5.Third Selection
Send that to Me. I will then make the selection based on rank and number.
Race Operations. I am still in need of a Race Operations Officer. I plan to nominate one by Thursday if I have no volunteers. I will then work my way through the mailing list till I find someone. Remember Offices aren't forever they are up for re-election every year. During the off season. So you are not neccessarly stuck in the office forever.
Finally I would like to stop some rumors that seem to be surfacing about something happening to VARO. VARO is not going anywhere in the sense of changeing. We may move to a better webhost but VARO will not change. I am not going anywhere and neither are the VARO Board Officers. We are all didicated to creating a fun and realistic air racing organization. We are not a league we are here to promote the Sport of Online Air Racing. Above all its about having fun and not complicateing things with complicated rules, regulations, and procedures. I created VARO to fill the void in the Online Flight Sim community and to have fun. The only way VARO will ever go away is when it stops being fun. Pass the word VARO is here to stay through thick and thing. We are here for the pilot. We are here for air racing. Above all we are here to enjoy the sport and have fun.

VARO Having fun,20 feet off the ground
oh yea the server is offline as well.....sorry:)
Well, another fine evening of racing was had by VARO members Flatline ( our new VARO Vice
President and all around " racer to beat " ), Baron ( PRO ), Griff, and myself, Roscoe ( CSO ).
Three complete races were held Monday evening with fast laps, close racing, and no crashes.
Air starts were used for the start of all three races and went very well. In the first heat, Baron
got out in front at the start and stayed there the entire race. Flatline was hot on his tail but
there was nothing that either Flatline or I could do to catch him. He was just fast that race.
During the third race of the evening, Griff decided to watch from the start finish line and
witnessed the air start first hand. The air start in Griffs words was " awesome " !
Roscoe got out in front at the start this time and even though Baron was hot on his tail the
entire race, Roscoe was flying a low and tight line and held Baron and Flatline off to win
the race. We thenall got together at the home pylon for a few pics and called it a night
at that point.
Roger Wico was used again and worked great. VARO will be using Roger Wilco as the main
source of communication between the Air Bosses and the pilots, so if you plan on racing
you'll need RW. Not to repeat what Baron has said but do yourself a favor and get yourself an
inexpensive pair of headphones with a microphone and download Roger Wilco. If you think
you'll be able to fly 400mph, 20 feet off the ground and type messages at the same time,
you really need to think again.
Download Roger Wilco Here ( it's a freebee )
And be sure to spend the extra time to set it up correctly. There are help files included to guide
you thru setting up the microphone recording levels and sound levels. If you take the time
you wont be dissappointed and it will definetly enhance your online airracing experience !
As Construction Support Officer I can tell you that the stable of Formula 1 racers is coming
along nicely and will available in the near future. There other things happening also but I won't let
that cat out of the bag just yet!
Till Next Time

i'm really glad to be on board with VARO [ooophf, bad pun] and looking forward to some great races.
just got out of an awesome practice session with roscoe and baron [with special guest commentary by Griff].
i'll let baron post all the gory details.
i've hooked roscoe up with a template for the reno mustang so we should be seeing some great repaints from him very soon.
meantime, if there's anything i can do to help; technical questions, info, rules, whatever... please let me know.

The roster looked something like this: Roscoe (hosting and leading in a GREAT air start), flatline (kickingeveryones butt), 55lido(don't ask, but don't EVEN THINK OF PASSING HIM), and my self Baron (with no fewer than two full on crashes during the two races). It was still a great time!
Heya, we want you to play!!! No matter what your simming level, we're here to have a good time!!! (Kinda hard not to with easy going people like this..).
This gets to be the tough part....
PLZ GO BUY A CHEAP HEADSET W/A MIC (got mine for $9.99), then download the free version of Roger Wilco. After tonights session, I'm convinced it's the least expensive addon you can purchase (or add to your wish list)to further your racing experience!
Here's a quick tip for you perfectionists (if you didn't already know), to close and open the radiator door on the mustang, here's the commands: close CTRL+SHIFT+C...open CTRL+SHIFT+V...(I think you have to hit them three times each) that's the tip of the day!
'till next time (you know),

Also, there's a bunch of new planes in the wings (grin), just waiting for final approval. So keep in touch!
In addition, feel free to post a message with future ideas....we accept anything you have to offer!!!
We still need airport locations for new race courses, so if your home town feild looks good, let us know!!!
'till next time, (you know),
