VARO Season 2003 Postponed
It has taken a lot of thought and a lot of discussion but I feel that to address the current unrest within VARO we must postpone the season, until we have all the bugs worked out. VARO has grown very fast since we started up in November and that is great. However, we pushed VARO to it limits and it is starting to show strain. SO, to help lessen the pressure, we are putting the season on hold. Some of you may not agree with this but it needs to be done. However I have good news, VARO will continue to be the Number 1 home of Virtual Air Racing in the world. VARO pilots have seen some of the largest and probably the most impressive air racing ever and it will continue. We are planing to still have racing every Saturday and new courses every month. The only change is, scoring will be removed. We are flying for fun and bragging rights from here on out. The scoring will eventually come back but not until we have ironed out the bugs. I understand some people will be disappointed by this decision but it will only help VARO go into the future.
Other Bad News
Roscoe,a founder of VARO, has decided to step down from his Construction Officer duties. He has done an excellent job with the F1 skins and Widowmaker is still an impressive Mustang. Roscoe will still be around, just as a pilot, so if you are in a session with Roscoe take a second to wish him luck with his future endevours. I would like to personally thank Roscoe for helping me put VARO together. He was one of the first people to get involved and his help has been tremendous.
More Good News
The air show is still on and there will be air racing there so stay posted. We are still working out an agreement with West Coast ATC to provide servers for Air Racing which will improve racing. West Coast ATC is a valued partner. I encourage all pilots that are interested in Virtual Airlines or just flying ATC to head over there and catch a session.
Officer Openings and Pilot Rules Group
With Roscoe stepping down there is now an opening for in the Construction Support Office to be filled immediately. I am also taking nominations for the Pilot Rules Group. These will be 3 pilots that know and understand the bylaws and proceedures and are willing to enforce them. They will also handle any protest that may occur. All pilots with the exception of the President and Vice-President are eligible. To nominate a pilot simply send Sryth a short email with the pilots name and reason why they should be nominated. I will take nominees until May and then we will have the vote.
Final Words
Fly Low, Fly Fast!
VARO is only as good as it pilots, and all our pilots are the best. Who else can do it at 500 mph, 50 feet of the ground in an aircraft 60 years old? Ok, maybe they are a little crazy but it sure is fun!
Sryth
VARO President
